NoiseHunters (UAB Tyrimų Laboratorija) provides professional acoustic measurements, noise investigations and acoustic modelling throughout Latvia. Our accredited laboratory is based in Kretinga, Lithuania, and our experienced specialists travel directly to project sites across Latvia to perform on-site measurements and acoustic investigations.
With more than 10 years of experience and thousands of completed acoustic investigations, we work with residential and commercial buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, developers, engineers and other organisations requiring reliable acoustic data and professional assessment.
Our Acoustic Services in Latvia
Building Acoustic Measurements
We perform building acoustic measurements to assess the sound insulation and acoustic performance of buildings and their elements.
Our services include:
- Airborne sound insulation measurements
- Impact sound insulation measurements
- Façade sound insulation measurements
- Reverberation time measurements
- Building acoustic assessments
- Investigation of sound insulation problems
These measurements can be relevant for new residential and commercial buildings, construction quality control and investigations where there are concerns about inadequate sound insulation.
Latvia's LBN 016-15 "Building Acoustics" establishes acoustic requirements for buildings, and the Latvian regulations provide for the relevant acoustic measurements to be performed by laboratories accredited by the national accreditation authority or an accreditation body within the European Economic Area.
Environmental and Industrial Noise Measurements
We measure noise from a wide range of sources, including:
- Industrial facilities and production equipment
- Roads and road traffic
- Railways and railway traffic
- Aircraft
- Electrical substations and other infrastructure
- Technical equipment
- Other environmental noise sources
Noise level measurements can be used to determine the existing noise situation, investigate complaints, assess the impact of an activity and evaluate compliance with applicable noise limits.
Latvian environmental noise requirements distinguish between industrial and traffic noise and establish different day, evening and night limits depending on the type of surrounding area.
Noise Source Investigation with an Acoustic Camera
When conventional measurements show that there is excessive noise but do not clearly identify its source, we can use an acoustic camera investigation.
The system combines microphone-array measurements with a visual image to create a real-time acoustic map. This allows our specialists to identify dominant noise sources and determine which machine, component or part of a structure is generating the most noise.
This is particularly useful in complex industrial environments where several potential noise sources operate simultaneously. Our laboratory already uses acoustic camera investigations to identify dominant sources and improve acoustic assessments and modelling.
Engineering-System Noise Measurements
We also investigate noise generated by building engineering systems and technical equipment.
Depending on the project, this can include:
- Ventilation and air-conditioning equipment
- Heat pumps and cooling equipment
- Pumps
- Lifts
- Water and heating systems
- Other technical installations
These measurements can help determine whether equipment is creating excessive noise inside or around buildings and identify potential sources of acoustic problems.
Industrial Noise Modelling
For new developments or changes to existing facilities, noise modelling can predict how airborne noise will propagate through the surrounding environment before a project is implemented.
We can model noise from:
- Industrial and production facilities
- Logistics centres and warehouses
- Roads
- Railways
- Wind turbines
- Other significant environmental noise sources
The modelling can take into account noise source levels, source locations and heights, buildings, terrain, noise barriers, operating conditions and different day, evening and night scenarios.
The results can be presented as noise propagation maps, helping developers, engineers and authorities understand the potential impact of a project and identify appropriate noise-reduction measures.
Where We Work in Latvia
Our specialists can travel to projects throughout Latvia, including:
We are particularly well positioned to serve western Latvia, given our laboratory's location in Kretinga, Lithuania. This provides convenient access to projects in Liepāja, Grobiņa, Priekule, Aizpute, Kuldīga, Saldus, Talsi and Ventspils.
Travel to other locations in Latvia can also be arranged depending on the project requirements.
What Do We Need to Start?
The information required depends on the type of investigation. Usually, it is helpful to provide:
- Project or site address
- Type of building or facility
- Description of the noise problem or project
- Information about the noise source
- Site plans or building plans, if available
- Equipment information, where applicable
- Preferred measurement date or project deadline
You do not need to know exactly which acoustic service you require. Send us the details of your project or noise problem and our specialists can recommend the appropriate measurement or assessment.
